OhoPrice editorial review

Our Take: The Vivo Y02s at Rs 29,999 is a phone that prioritises physical design over internal specifications. At 8.2 mm thin and weighing comfortably, it sits well in the hand and pocket, making it appealing to users who value portability. However, the Helio P35 processor inside is one of the oldest chips still sold in new phones — released in 2019, its 12 nm fabrication means it runs warmer and consumes more power than modern alternatives at similar price points. The PowerVR GE8320 GPU struggles with anything beyond the lightest games. The 3 GB of RAM is the most pressing limitation: Android 13 and above consumes roughly 1.5 GB on its own, leaving barely enough for two or three apps to run simultaneously. The 64 GB of storage is half what most competitors offer at this price. The 6.51-inch display at 270 PPI is acceptable for reading and browsing, and the 5000 mAh battery compensates somewhat for the inefficient processor by providing reliable all-day endurance. The 8 MP main camera with autofocus captures usable daylight photos but produces muddy results in anything less than bright conditions. The 5 MP selfie camera is bare minimum. At Rs 29,999, this phone asks you to pay more for less processing power than rivals — the only justifications are Vivo's brand trust and the slim form factor. The Villaon Hyper 100 at Rs 25,999 is Rs 4,000 cheaper and offers double the storage at 128 GB plus a claimed 6 GB of RAM (expandable to 18 GB). While the Villaon's processor is not identified, almost any modern octa-core chip will outperform the Y02s's aging Helio P35. The Villaon also matches the Vivo's 5000 mAh battery and offers a larger 6.75-inch screen, though its display resolution is listed as 'N/A', meaning you cannot confirm pixel density before buying. Where the Y02s retains an advantage is its confirmed IPS LCD panel and Vivo's software optimisation, which tends to be lighter and smoother than Villaon's custom skin. The Y02s also benefits from Vivo's wider service network in Pakistan. For buyers focused purely on specifications per rupee, the Villaon offers more hardware for less money; for those who value a known brand, software refinement, and a slimmer design, the Vivo Y02s remains a reasonable, if overpriced, choice. PTA Note: Older Vivo models may already be PTA-approved, but verify the IMEI on the PTA website before committing to buy.
