OhoPrice editorial review
Our Take: The Infinix Hot 50i at Rs 30,999 is built around a single headline feature: a 120 Hz display that delivers noticeably smoother scrolling than the 90 Hz and 60 Hz panels common at this price. If you spend hours scrolling through TikTok, Instagram, or Twitter, the difference between 90 Hz and 120 Hz is perceptible — animations feel more fluid and text appears to move more naturally across the screen. The MediaTek Helio G81 paired with the Mali-G52 MP2 GPU provides adequate performance for daily tasks and light gaming, though it cannot match more powerful chips in sustained workloads. With 6 GB of RAM, the phone handles background apps reasonably well, and 128 GB of storage offers plenty of room. The 48 MP f/1.8 main camera with autofocus captures usable daylight photos, and the wide aperture helps in dimmer conditions. The 8 MP selfie camera is basic but functional. The 5000 mAh battery is standard for the class. At 165.7 mm tall, the phone is large but not unmanageable. The 120 Hz refresh rate is this phone's defining selling point — if display smoothness matters to you, it delivers. The Itel A100 at Rs 27,999 offers Rs 3,000 savings and a more powerful Unisoc T7250 processor, but its display likely runs at 60 Hz or an unspecified refresh rate — meaning the Infinix's 120 Hz panel provides a visibly smoother experience. The Hot 50i's 48 MP f/1.8 camera also captures more detailed, brighter photos than the A100's 8 MP unit, particularly indoors where the wider aperture gathers more light. The Itel's 128 GB storage matches the Infinix, and its 12 GB of total RAM (4 GB physical plus 8 GB virtual) exceeds the Hot 50i's 6 GB of dedicated memory. For gaming, the Helio G81's Mali-G52 MP2 performs comparably to the A100's GPU, so neither phone has a decisive edge there. The A100's larger 6.74-inch screen is marginally bigger than the Hot 50i's 6.7-inch panel, though both are 720p. For buyers who prioritise display smoothness and camera quality, the Infinix Hot 50i wins; the Itel A100 is better for those who want more RAM and processing power at a lower price.
