OhoPrice editorial review

Our Take: The Vivo Y51s at Rs 32,999 stands out primarily for its Full HD+ display — at 1080 x 2408 pixels, it achieves roughly 401 PPI, making text appear razor-sharp and photos look detailed on screen. This is a meaningful upgrade over the 720p panels that dominate the sub-35,000 PKR space, and anyone who reads articles, studies PDFs, or watches high-resolution video on their phone will notice the difference immediately. The Snapdragon 662 is a reliable mid-range chip that handles multitasking with its 8 GB of physical RAM, and the 128 GB storage provides ample room for photos, videos, and apps. The 48 MP triple camera captures good daylight images with accurate colour reproduction, though the 8 MP ultrawide and 2 MP macro sensors add limited practical value. Battery capacity at 5000 mAh is standard, but the Snapdragon 622's efficiency means it often stretches into a second day with lighter use. The 16 MP selfie camera is above average for video calls. This phone is best suited for users who spend significant time reading on their phone or watching video content and want a display that does not strain their eyes. The Xiaomi Redmi A5 at Rs 28,999 costs Rs 4,000 less but cannot compete on display quality — its 720p panel at 260 PPI produces noticeably softer text than the Y51s's Full HD screen. The Redmi A5 does offer a larger 6.88-inch display and a 5200 mAh battery that slightly edges out the Vivo's 5000 mAh capacity, making it a strong choice for users who prioritise screen size and battery endurance over sharpness. The A5's 32 MP selfie camera also outspecs the Vivo's 16 MP unit, though the Y51s's Snapdragon processor delivers more consistent performance. The Xiaomi includes only 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage in its base configuration, which is half the Vivo's allocations on both counts. For buyers who consume a lot of media on their phone and want a genuinely sharp display, the Y51s earns its premium; the Redmi A5 is the choice if budget matters more than pixel density. PTA Note: 5G bands may not yet be fully operational in Pakistan; verify local carrier support if 5G connectivity is important to you.
