Our Take: The Redmi Pad is not a phone and should not be judged like one — it is a 10.6-inch media tablet trying to be your Netflix, Zoom and reading machine for 66,999 PKR. The 90Hz display with 1200 x 2000 resolution is comfortable for video and documents, and the 8000mAh battery is the real selling point, easily outlasting any phone in this catalogue. The Helio G99 and 4GB of RAM are fine for streaming and light productivity, and at just 7.1mm thin it is impressively portable. Just know the cameras are basic 8MP sensors, so treat them as backup tools rather than features. The listed rival, the Samsung Galaxy A17, is not really a competitor so much as a fork in the road: it is a phone, and you cannot compare them spec-for-spec because they do different jobs. The A17 costs about the same and gives you an AMOLED screen, a 50MP camera and the ability to make calls and fit in a pocket; the Redmi Pad gives you a huge canvas, double the battery capacity and a far better reading-and-video experience. If a phone is your need, buy the phone; if a second screen for media is what you are actually shopping for, the Pad is the sensible pick and the A17 becomes irrelevant. Check that the Redmi Pad's IMEI is PTA-compliant — tablets and imported units often slip through without registration.
